Film maker Brett Novak was asked by the Halsey Institute out of Charleston, South Carolina to make a short film on the street artist Shepard Fairey.
By watching this film you can hear to Fairey explaining what led him from a skater to a street artist. The film presents a lot of his work sometimes showing him working on his art and the film shows how his Andre the Giant stickers and paintings are everywhere.
The artist explains how he accidently stumbled into an idea that placing something on unusual places has a power.
Learn what, in Shepard’s view, makes art the best and what he thinks about the public art.
This idea that public space is usually reserved for advertising and government signage and anything other than that is actually an anomaly.
